Education/Training:
B.R.E. (Religious Education) from West Coast Baptist College.
Five years of private voice lessons with Alis Clausen Odenthal.
Half way done with a second bachelor's.
Do you also have a non-singing "day job"? If so, what do you do?
I used to, but not currently.
Where else do you teach/gig/conduct/sing/perform?
I sing at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Hollywood. In addition, I tend to have a steady rotation of other Episcopal parishes for which I'll regularly/occasionally sing.
Highlights of your musical career:
There are so many wonderful memories in fifteen years of being a musician, but anytime I get to sing with my friends I consider it to be a highlight of my career. Often, that might be singing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall or even in an In N Out parking lot or underground garage.
Favorite choral work(s):
I don't have specifically favorite choral works. My cop out is "anything I'm listening to at the moment is my favorite." That's usually a lot of Bach, Gregorian Chant, or some type of liturgical music.
A defining moment of favorite LA Master Chorale onstage experience:
Singing Janacek's Glagolitic Mass, Adams's Harmonium, Bernstein's Mass, the "Hineh mah tov" at the end of Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, and Brahms's Ein Deutsches Requiem have all been incredibly emotional experiences that have left me profoundly changed.
What are you listening to these days?
Most recent composers played on my phone are Bach, Duruflé, MacMillan, Miškinis, Rautavaara, and some Shaker tunes.
Other than music, I have a deep love for history and lecture in genealogical research.
I'm typically found researching in libraries, reading/studying at a coffee shop (Starbucks on Challenger and K), or hanging out with friends.
I'm halfway through a second Bachelors in an area of music that is tbd.
