Tenor
Do you also have a non-singing "day job"? If so, what do you do?
I work freelance as a graphic designer and audio/video editor, and I also have a part-time job as a personal assistant to a blues drummer and producer in Studio City.
Where else do you teach/gig/conduct/sing/perform?
I sing with the LA Opera Chorus, as well as several smaller professional ensembles in the Los Angeles area such as Tonality, Camerata Rus, and Concerto NoHo.
Where do you live in L.A.?
Hollywood Hills
What L.A. experience do you consider essential for visitors/newcomers?
It's a three way tie between sipping a free cup of tea with the pidgeons in the rooftop garden at the Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver, chowing down on some delicious charcoal-grilled Korean BBQ in K-town, and riding the westbound Metro Gold Line, watching the sun set over the San Gabriel Mountains.
Bio:
Adam Faruqi is known for his versatile and flexible tenor voice. He sings in a variety of styles, from art song, opera, and choir to pop, rock, and country. A member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the LA Opera Chorus, he performs across the Los Angeles area (and beyond) with organizations such as The Industry, Tonality, Street Symphony, PRISM, Chorosynthesis, Concerto NoHo, Pasadena Opera, Camerata Rus, and Angel City Opera, among others. In his free time, Adam composes, arranges, and records music in his home studio. He is the creator of Sh*tty A Cappella, an independent multi-track recording project that ironically blends elements of humor with high levels of musicianship. Adam holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music.
